Penile compression left December's flexible prototype unstable near the prostate
In an entry published in December 2022, Mr. Okada compared prototypes using a urethral sound (a rod occupying the urine passage). The nearly rigid stainless-steel version had not reached beyond the muscle controlling urine flow. A revised prototype had a 5-6cm section of flexible 4-wire support (a wire structure supporting the chip). Mr. Okada reported that it reached the bladder but became unstable under pressure.

In an entry published in January 2023, Mr. Okada reported that a vertical belt made a straighter compressed position more likely. It did not reliably maintain that position, because the urine passage could still shift and bend. He wrote that a rigid internal support caused pain over time and could become dangerous during movement. Mr. Okada cautioned against forcing the body to maintain an unnatural position.

In an entry published in March 2023, Mr. Okada reported maintained compression 24 hours after he stopped using the sound. He had felt unwell and considered the sound's pressure a burden on his heart. The result changed his earlier assumption that the sound was essential.

Penile compression exposed drainage problems before the wider opening arrived
In an entry published in April 2023, Mr. Okada described unpredictable urine outlets and spray directions with the earlier plate. Urine also ran over the testicles, leaving a broad area needing washing after each urination. His experimental condom cover and external drainage tube improved directional control, but urine remained inside the tube.
The combination that included a sound also obstructed drainage at the plate opening. Mr. Okada warned that tight rubber-band constriction could cause tissue death, and trapping foreskin under a tie could cause blisters.

In an entry published in April 2023, the plate's central opening changed from approximately 7mm to approximately 20mm. This exposed the area around the urinary opening, and Mr. Okada reported that urine now exited on the plate's outer side. He stopped development of the condom-and-tube drainage arrangement following this redesign.
He offered a free exchange to the wider-opening version on request, with a manufacturing wait. Mr. Okada cautioned that an exchange would not necessarily make compression achievable for someone who had been unable to achieve it before.

In an entry published in July 2024, Mr. Okada described a ceramic plate combined with swimwear-fabric underwear and a tensioned fabric cover. The cover limited outward expansion around the exposed head of the penis; an added restraint addressed concerns about stronger erections.
