Anal chip electrodes caused prickling despite a promising follow-up
An entry published in December 2018 reported prickling from the maker's prototype; the metal, electrode width, and overall shape were possible explanations. Mr. Okada initially suspended development, recalling his earlier conclusion that direct metal contact with moist mucosa (the tissue lining) was unsuitable. Anal chip electrodes became cheaper after the production method changed

In an entry published in April 2019, Mr. Okada adopted a one-electrode-per-mucosal-cavity principle.
