About this product

About this product

The OK Prostate Chip is a small device that is placed in the urethra (the urine passage) so that it acts on the prostate; the maker sells it in several shapes, sizes and materials. It is made and sold by OK Lab (Okada Comfortable Life Laboratory), a small company in Japan, through its own online store, and prices are in Japanese yen (JPY). The maker's development diary, "ok-lab's diary", is written in Japanese. This page is an English summary of it, and every quotation is translated. OK Lab ships internationally, so readers outside Japan can order (see "Buying from outside Japan" below). Product names on this page are plain-English descriptions. The official Japanese product name is shown once in the product table so you can find the same item in the store.

What happens: OK Prostate Chip price changes

The OK Prostate Chip is a small device placed in the urethra to act on the prostate, as the diary describes. These price notices concern the device, attached parts, custom work, and thread replacement services. They explain what particular charges covered and why Mr. Okada changed them at the time. Depending on the design, the priced components connect to the chip or sit near the urethral opening.

Motorized chip price changes ended the provisional long-glass offer in March 2019

In an entry published in March 2019, Mr. Okada said the provisional long glass motorized chip offer at ¥6,000 (about $38 at ¥156 = $1, rate as of 2026-09-04) excluding tax had ended. The standard long glass motorized chip was listed at ¥8,000 (about $51 at ¥156 = $1, rate as of 2026-09-04) excluding tax.

The price covered the glass chip and its attached motor. Mr. Okada announced that regular sales were planned for early April 2019.

Gatekeeper price changes included lock keys in August 2022

In an entry published in August 2022, Mr. Okada revised gatekeeper prices, all excluding tax. The single-tube gatekeeper, a holder near the urethral opening, gained a standard lock key costing ¥500 (about $3 at ¥156 = $1, rate as of 2026-09-04), bringing its price to ¥5,500 (about $35 at ¥156 = $1, rate as of 2026-09-04).

The double-tube gatekeeper cost ¥7,000 (about $45 at ¥156 = $1, rate as of 2026-09-04), with tubing charged separately. Its separate tubes were intended for chip retention and urine drainage. Mr. Okada also wrote that the wire-filled silicone tubing could be used without the double-tube gatekeeper.

Silicone assembly price changes covered narrower tubing and more connection work

In an entry published in August 2022, Mr. Okada described a silicone assembly, meaning a chip joined to wire-filled silicone tubing. The tube's outside diameter changed from 3mm to 2mm, with an inside diameter of 1mm.

He said the narrower connection required reinforcement and substantially more manufacturing work. Replacing thread with wire did not change the chip's price, but connection work carried the separate charges below.

Work or componentPrice announced in August 2022, excluding tax
Ceramic chip end preparation¥2,000 (about $13 at ¥156 = $1, rate as of 2026-09-04)
Blue resin chip end preparation¥2,500 (about $16 at ¥156 = $1, rate as of 2026-09-04)
Tube connection, up to 20cm¥1,000 (about $6 at ¥156 = $1, rate as of 2026-09-04)
Each additional 10cm¥500 (about $3 at ¥156 = $1, rate as of 2026-09-04)
Loop component¥1,000 (about $6 at ¥156 = $1, rate as of 2026-09-04) each

Mr. Okada limited tube length to 40cm and said loop components had to be included before shipment rather than purchased for later attachment. He directed buyers to this revised schedule because the connection work differed substantially from the previous announcement.

Side-mounted gatekeeper price changes reflected harder manufacturing in October 2023

In an entry published in October 2023, Mr. Okada priced the revised side-mounted gatekeeper at ¥6,000 (about $38 at ¥156 = $1, rate as of 2026-09-04) excluding tax. He attributed the change to a more developed design that was substantially harder to manufacture.

The price included attachments for ordinary parallel cord and a compatible blue safety attachment. Mr. Okada said owners with either specified connection needed only the gatekeeper, while excluding the loop-shaped blue safety version from that statement.

Resin chip price changes accompanied a new material in November 2024

In an entry published in November 2024, Mr. Okada announced second-generation resin, the new chip material, with unchanged shapes and slightly different color. He said it tolerated alcohol disinfection and was slightly more flexible, making it less likely to break in his view.

He reported testing prototypes for more than a year without particular problems. He linked the price changes to imported resin costs, which he said had risen as the yen weakened.

Four-hole stopper price increases reflected production costs in July 2026

In an entry published in July 2026, Mr. Okada increased the four-hole parallel-cord stopper charge from ¥1,000 (about $6 at ¥156 = $1, rate as of 2026-09-04) to ¥1,500 (about $10 at ¥156 = $1, rate as of 2026-09-04) excluding tax. This notice concerned the four-hole version specifically.

He explained that demand for four holes had previously been low, so that version had shared the two-hole price. Mr. Okada described the revised charge as bringing its price into line with production costs.

The maker's answer to OK Prostate Chip price changes

Mr. Okada separated charges by the work involved, while preserving existing prices for remaining older-material stock.

Thread replacement price changes applied separately to every connected chip

In an entry published in September 2021, Mr. Okada revised thread replacement, the paid service for renewing a chip's connecting thread. For chips whose thread was not bonded with resin, he set the charge at ¥500 (about $3 at ¥156 = $1, rate as of 2026-09-04) excluding tax per connected chip.

Earlier ceramic and glass chips with embedded thread had a ¥1,000 (about $6 at ¥156 = $1, rate as of 2026-09-04) excluding tax replacement charge, with some auxiliary pieces charged separately. He explained that handling a five-chip assembly involved enough work to make one ¥500 (about $3 at ¥156 = $1, rate as of 2026-09-04) service charge uneconomic. For costs, Mr. Okada suggested limiting the paid replacement request to the leading chip.

Flexible connection price increases followed added tubing around the wire

In an entry published in June 2023, Mr. Okada made tube-covered wire standard for a flexible two-chip assembly. The earlier design combined parallel cable with exposed wire.

He said the tube-covered core wire, the assembly's central supporting connection, took substantially more manufacturing work. Consequently, he planned to change its charge from ¥1,000 (about $6 at ¥156 = $1, rate as of 2026-09-04) to ¥2,000 (about $13 at ¥156 = $1, rate as of 2026-09-04) excluding tax per chip when regular sales began.

Resin chip price changes left existing older stock at unchanged prices

In an entry published in November 2024, Mr. Okada announced that older-material chips would be discontinued once existing stock ran out. He said those remaining chips would keep their existing prices and be sold separately from the new material.

He expected formal sales of second-generation chips to begin in 2025, with the company's own online store selling incoming stock sooner. The diary does not record whether the older inventory subsequently sold out.

Custom size price increases added a charge for each nonstandard part

In an entry published in July 2026, Mr. Okada introduced a surcharge for nonstandard stopper and screw parts made from epoxy resin. This material was used for the custom parts covered by the notice. Nonstandard sizes would add ¥1,000 (about $6 at ¥156 = $1, rate as of 2026-09-04) excluding tax per piece, while exceptionally unusual shapes required separate quotations.

He also said difficult custom work could attract a separately quoted technical fee. An original experimental request might have been priced using basic process charges because he welcomed the new idea. Mr. Okada said a later request for the same design could receive a different quote reflecting its technical difficulty.

Thread-end price changes established fees for previously unpriced finishing requests

In an entry published in July 2026, Mr. Okada established prices for requested resin treatments securing nylon thread ends. For double threads, a plain resin end stop cost ¥500 (about $3 at ¥156 = $1, rate as of 2026-09-04) excluding tax, while a resin loop end stop cost ¥1,000 (about $6 at ¥156 = $1, rate as of 2026-09-04) excluding tax.

A loop end stop for a single nylon thread also cost ¥1,000 (about $6 at ¥156 = $1, rate as of 2026-09-04) excluding tax. Mr. Okada explained that double-thread products normally did not receive this treatment, although customers sometimes requested it.
